Mrs. Bertha McGuire Bassitt
Mrs. Bertha McGuire Bassitt, widowed daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGuire, died early Tuesday morning at the family home at Dora, in the thirty first year of her life. She had been in failing health nearly two years though after a severe illnss of three weeks, death came quite unexpectedly.
Mrs. Bassitt was twice married. Her first husband was Charlie Cox, to whom she was married in 1907. He met his death four years afterwards on the yard at the acid plant. Two children were born to them, Howard, age 14, and Ethel, age 12, who nw survive her. In 1914 she married Carl Bassitt, who four years ago died during the flu epidemic. From this marriage two children survive her, Richard S., and Carley Allen, 6.
Mrs. Bassitt was a member of the Apostolic church and a devoted mother.
The family have had the sympathy and aid of friends throughout her illness and death. Beside her children she is survived by her father, mother, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the East Pulaski M.E. church, conducted by Rev. J.W. Powers, her pastor. Interment was in the Dora cemetery.
