Dorothy M. Bassett
Dorothy M. Bassett, 89, wife of the late William Bassett Jr., of Bethel, formerly of Cos Cob and Stamford, died at her residence on Saturday evening following a lengthy illness. She was born Greenwich, November 5, 1916, daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Moore) Brunelle. Dorothy lived in the Stamford-Cos Cob area most all of her life, prior to moving to Bethel 15 years ago. She had been employed for many years at the Pitney-Bowes Corporation in Stamford. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Tomaino, and her husband, Frank, with whom she resided; and her son, William Bassett III and his wife, Angela, of Bethel; a sister, Kathryn Rillahan, of Ohio; five grandchildren, Tracey Spooner and her husband, John, and their daughter, Megan, Todd Tomaino and his wife, Mary, and their children Mason and Nora, Katie Turlis and her husband, Scott, and their son, Hunter, Heather Bassett and Erin Bassett; several nieces and nephews and Sarah, her longtime caregiver. Known as Dottie, Dos, Dotsy, Nana or Lovee by those who knew and loved her, she will be missed for her gentle, caring and loving ways. Private funeral services with interment will be held at the Middle Patent Cemetery, Bedford, New York, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday January 6, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association, 1 School St., Bethel, Connecticut 06801.
