Sherry Kay Bass

Sherry Kay Bass, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on December 6, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on May 15, 1957. Sherry was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Thomas Bass; her father, Gerald Scogin; and her brother, Mack Scogin.
Sherry leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her mother, Norma Rose Scogin; one sister, Jan Scogin Bell (Ronnie); her son, Marc Budyach (Amanda); seven stepchildren, Karen Barton (John), Tassy Phillips (Dustin), Michael Raymond (Jacque), Starr Folden (Glenn), Amy Bourland (Roger), Sean Bass, and Miranda Matte (Steven); two grandchildren, Alexis Budyach and Hayley Budyach; and a host of step-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Sherry graduated from Southeastern University with a Bachelor?s Degree in Education. She touched the lives of many students in her years as a teacher at Slidell High School where she was awarded Teacher of the Year. Sherry valued teaching her students every day. She also enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends and doing yoga. Sherry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Sherry will be laid to rest aside her husband, Thomas, in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a private graveside service.
