No services are scheduled at this time. A native of Los Angeles County, Calif., Mr. Bass lived in various areas of California and Arkansas before moving to Titusville, and had resided in Haywood County, N. C., for the past five years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War era, and retired as a postmaster in 1996. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Hoff Bass; two sons, Jonathan Bass and his wife, Debbie, of DeLand, and Brian Bass and his wife, Emily, of Bunnell; two sisters, Mary Abbott and her husband, Scott, of California, and Shirley Bemis and her husband, David, of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Ricky Bass and his wife, Janet, of Port St. Lucie, and Mark Bass and his wife, Lisa, of Little Rock, Ark.; one grandson, Carter Bass; and his mother-in-law, Lorraine Hoff of Casselberry. Mr. Bass will be remembered by all whom he touched for his gentle heart and his generous nature. Memorial donations may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
