Gilmer, Bass
Mary Hazel Gilmer of 2921-G Cottage Place and Hubert Lemarr Bass were married Saturday at Persimmon Grove A.M.E. Church.
A reception followed in the home of the bridegroom?s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hubert Bass of Route 2. Mrs. Bass and the bride?s mother, Mrs. Della M. Gilmer of 5514 Dobson Rd., gave the reception with the bridegroom?s aunt, Mrs. Walter Moore, his sister, Mrs. Leonard Glenn of Winston-Salem, and his cousins, Mrs. Thomas Eldridge and Ms. Phyllis Watkins, both of Winston-Salem.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Franklin D. Miller. Her sisters, Miss Virginia Gilmer and Mrs. Kathleen Miller, and the bridegroom?s sister, Miss Karen Bass, were honor attendants. The bridegroom?s twin sisters, Miss Merrill Bass and Miss Sherrill Bass, were bridesmaids. Junior bridesmaids were the bridegroom?s niece, Cathy Glenn, and his cousins, Karla Eldridge. Child attendants were the bride?s daughter, Michelle L. Hughes, the bridegroom?s nice, Tarsha Elddirge, his nephew, Shawn Bass, and Charles McClendon.
William Jefferies served as best man. The bridegroom?s brother, John Dee Eldridge, and the bride?s brother-in-law, Ronnie Miller, ushered with Vernell Crayton and George Funderburk. Junior ushers were the bridegroom?s nephew, Bernard Glenn, and the bride?s cousin, Rickey Gilmer.
The bride attended Guilford High School and graduated from Guilford Technical Institute in Jamestown, where she studied care of the elderly. She is employed by Evergreen?s Inc.
The bridegroom graduated from Page High School and from Ryder Technical Institute of Atlanta. He is employed by Cone Mills.
The couple will live here.
