He was a native of Greensboro but had lived in Winston-Salem for the past nine years. He was a graduate of Page High School in Greensboro and was employed by the Consolidated Freightway Trucking Company. He is survived by his wife Mary Gilmer Bass, one son, Abshard L. Bass, both of the home; two daughters, Brandy L. Bass and Michelle L. Bass, both of Winston-Salem; his parents, John H. and Annie Mac Bass of Greensboro; four sisters, Shirley G. Jeffries of Winston-Salem, Karen Scott, Sherrill Bass and Merrill Bass all of Greensboro; a grandson; plus several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23 at 1 p.m. at Smith-Hinnant Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Milton officiating. Burial followed at Bass Cemetery in Greensboro.
