Union City Man, 58 Years a Barber, Enters Retirement
Union City, Ind., Sept. 23-After having spent 58 years at the barber trade, of which 53 were spent in this city, Lon Bass has retired from business. He has been in ill health for several months. He came to this city from Muncie, and has spent most of his life in shops on Pearl Street. His last shop in the Branham Hotel block he operated for 23 years. Henry Rosenbush and several others have been his patrons for 53 years.

Burial Rites Friday
Infirmities of age, from which he had suffered for several months, have ended the life of Lon Bass, 75, Union City?s oldest barber both from a standpoint of years and service. Death occurred yesterday at the Union City hospital.
Born south of the nearby town, Bass moved into the village when but a young boy and for 53 years operated a barber shop in the downtown section. He had been retired for the past year due to declining health.
His wife died several years ago, and his only immediate survivors are several distant relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted from his home on Oak street at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be made in a cemetery adjoining his birthplace.
