Patricia (Pat Kasel) Bass passed away peacefully at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida on February 10, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
Patricia Ann Kasel was born in Austin, Minnesota to Peter R. and Betty E. Kasel on October 29, 1951. She graduated from Austin High School in 1970. She moved to South Florida in 1971.
Jerry Bass passed away peacefully at LiveWell at Coral Plaza in Margate Florida on February 10, 2015 after a lengthy health condition.
Jerry Bass was born in Bonifay, Florida to Lafayette and Lois Bass on February 9, 1942. He graduated from Holmes County (Bonifay) High School in 1960. Jerry joined the U.S. Army, was a Vietnam War veteran, and received an honorable discharge.
Jerry and Pat met in South Florida in the early 1980s. They were married December 31, 1983. They resided in Fort Lauderdale, where Jerry owned and operated Bass Grading and Rock Excavation. Pat was his office manager, in addition to being a licensed real estate broker.
Theirs was a true love story. Pat and Jerry were happily married for 31 years and passed on within hours of each other, to be together with our Lord.
We will bless their passing during a graveside service at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Florida on February 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Following will be a celebration of their lives at the V.F.W. Post 7674 in Fort Walton Beach.
Memorials preferred to Alzheimer?s Association or Trust Bridge/Hospice by the Sea.

A couple with local ties, who were married 31 years, died within hours of each other Feb. 10.
Pat Kasel Bass and Jerry Bass will be buried in the same plot at Beal Memorial Cemetery Saturday. She will be cremated, with her remains placed in Jerry?s coffin.
He died around 1 a.m. and Pat passed within hours of hearing the news.
?She was waiting for him and didn?t really want to leave him,? said her sister, Cathy Kasel of Minnesota.
The couple, who lived in South Florida, had been inseparable since marrying on New Year?s Eve in 1983.
Jerry was born in Bonifay and had a home in Fort Walton Beach, though he lived in Fort Lauderdale.
They met when Pat was waiting tables in a restaurant where Jerry had breakfast. He liked her red hair, Cathy said.
They traveled extensively and worked together in Jerry?s heavy equipment business.
He was almost 10 years older than Pat and when he started having memory issues, they moved into a facility where he could get treatment during the day but come home to Pat at night.
In mid-January, her health suddenly failed and she moved into a hospice.
A friend would visit each of them, relaying messages back and forth.
?I?d call her every day and read to her, let her know everything was OK,? Cathy said.
Pat?s health deteriorated rapidly. She stopped eating or drinking. Family members braced themselves to lose her, but she hung on.
?We didn?t know what she was waiting for,? Cathy said.
Early on Feb. 10, Cathy got the call that Jerry had passed away, peacefully. She called her sister?s hospice and asked the nurse to hold the phone to Pat?s ear.
?I told her that I loved her, that Jerry had passed away, that he was fine,? she said. ?That the chaplain was with him and he wasn?t alone.
?And I told her he was waiting for her.?
At 7 that morning, the hospice called to tell her Pat had died.
?It?s really comforting that they went together,? Cathy said. ?We?re saying that he went and got her.?
