Effie W. Bass
Effie Walston Bass, 97, died Monday, February 2, 2015. She was born October 1, 1917 in Edgecombe Co. to the late Levi Edward Walston and mother, Mittie Effie G. Walston. She was a member of Momeyer Baptist Church and for a period of time taught Sunday school, Ra's & Ga's. Effie attended South Edgecombe High and Atlantic Christian College. After graduation she taught in Nash County for 28 years. Due to her loving, caring, generous, & big hearted nature she was loved by many people of all ages and walks of life. She loved everyone and inspired them with her personality, wit, charm, & love of life. Predeceased by husband Sidney Harold Bass, stepmother, Ottie M. Walston, and stepbrother, Donald Walston. She is survived by sons, Edward Bass & wife, Cathy of Nashville, Brent Bass & wife, Frances of Nashville; daughter, Vivian Warren & husband, Roger of Momeyer. Grandchildren, Nathan Bass & wife Temsula of Dimapur, India; Bradley Bass & fiance Jamie Marston of Wilmington; Brooke Bass of Raleigh; Brendon Bass & wife Shannon of Raleigh; Stacey W. Porter and husband Brian of Morehead City; Ana W. Stines & husband Bryan of Raleigh; Matthew Warren & fiance Jordan Taylor of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Eliana & Katriel Bass of Demapur, India; Luke & Ruby Bass of Raleigh; Quinn Porter of Morehead City. A visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Momeyer Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Momeyer Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetary in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville, NC 27856.
