Elizabeth Taylor Bass
Elizabeth "Bette" Taylor Bass of Momeyer passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at her home. She was born June 18, 1919 in Nash County. Bette was the daughter of the late Eddie Dillard Taylor and Ada Lamm Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wesley R. "Bobby" Bass; step-son, Roderick S. Bass; nine siblings: Grace Taylor Davis, Lessie Mae Taylor Bulluck, Carrie Taylor Keel, Maggie Taylor Puckett, Nellie Taylor Strickland, Mary Taylor, William Brown Taylor, Wilson Calvin Taylor, Charles Edward Taylor.
She is survived by her son, Wesley Taylor Bass and his wife Patricia Jefferson Bass; daughter, Vandy Bass Matthews and her husband Richard Matthews; daughter-in-law, Joanne Bass of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sue Collins Taylor and Mary Francis Fuller Taylor; several wonderful caregivers that loved Bette and Bobby as if they were their own parents.
She was a member of Momeyer Baptist Church, and a graduate of Park View Hospital Nursing School 1940, also practiced nursing at Dunn Hospital, Dunn, as an operating room nurse. She later lovingly served her husband and children as a homemaker and part-time cashier at Bass Bros. General Merchandise in Momeyer.
The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at Momeyer Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at 2 pm in the sanctuary of the church. Burial followed the services at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville, NC.
