Wesley Roderick Bass
Wesley Roderick "Bobby" Bass, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. He was born on December 30, 1917 in Nash County. He was the son of the late Sidney Pierce and Annie Hinton Bass. Bobby proudly served his country in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate in the South Pacific in WWII. Bobby was Co-Owner and operator of Bass Brothers in Momeyer.
Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Roderick S. Bass; brothers, Leslie R. Bass, S. Harold Bass, James D. Bass, and Larry D. Bass.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Taylor Bass of the home; one son, Wesley Bass and wife Pat of Momeyer; his daughter, Vandy Matthews and husband Richard of Momeyer; daughter-in-law, JoAnne Bass of Palm Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several wonderful caregivers.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Friday, August 28, 2009 at Momeyer Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Arnold and Rev. Phil Qualls officiating. Visitation will immediately following the service. Graveside services will be held 11 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Momeyer Baptist Church, Attn: Building Fund, 4967 Momeyer Way, Nashville, NC 27856 or Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
