Mrs. Ray Bassett
Mrs. Ray Bassett, 78, R. 1, Milton Junction, died unexpectedly Monday, May 3, in Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital where she had been admitted earlier after suffering a heart attack at her home.
Funeral services were to be held today, Thursday, May 6, at 3 p.m. in the Milton Junction Methodist Church, the Rev. Alvin Briggs officiating. Burial will be in the Milton Junction Cemetery.
The former Elsie Dix, daughter of Philip and Bertha Rahr Dix, was born in Milwaukee July 5, 1886 and had resided in this vicinity most of her life. She was married to Fred Stone in 1910. He died in 1912. She married Ray Bassett in 1919 and he preceded her in 1934.
She was a member of the Milton Junction Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Frank Pepper, R. 1, Milton Junction; a grandson, Lowell Pepper, R. 1, Milton Junction, two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Philip, Milton and Elmer Dix, all of rural Milton Junction, Arthur of Stoughton, and Emil of Janesville; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Becker of Woodstock, Ill., and Mrs. Rene DeBock, R. 1, Milton Junction; nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bassett was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ruby Stone, and one great-grandchild, Marlene Pepper.
