Cooper-Bass Married
Kathleen Cooper and Kelvin Bart Bass were married Sept. 4 in Momeyer in a double ring ceremony conducted by Ricky Cone, president of the Zebulon Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and Rev. Ray Everton, pastor of the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Cooper of Spring Hope. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bass of Momeyer.
Wedding music was performed by Pat Taylor, pianist, and Rebecca Hill, soloist. Mrs. Mozelle Batchelor, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Mrs. Nan Bissette, aunt of the groom presided at the guest register.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
Patti Breese of La Puente, Calif., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Billie Cooper, sister of the bride; Karen Bass, sister of the groom; Melinda Sanborn of Huntington Beach, Calif., cousin of the bride; and Stephanie Ross of Spring Hope. Robin Cone of Spring Hope was flower girl.
The groom?s father was best man. Ushers were Mark Cooper, brother of the bride; B.K. Upchurch, cousin of the groom; Ricky Tobin; and Kent Holmes. Patrick Cooper, brother of the bride, was ring bearer.
The bride is a 1980 graduate of Southern Nash Senior High School and received her Associate Degree from Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif. The groom is a 1976 graduate of Southern Nash Senior High School and graduated from N.C. State University in 1980.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. After the couple cut the traditional fist slice of cake, the wedding cake was served by Arlinda Summerlin and Dottie Sollman. Punch was poured by Amy Tobin.
An after-rehearsal party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bass on Sept. 3 in Momeyer.
A lunch of out-of-town guests was hosted by the bride?s parents on Sept. 3.
A dinner was held in honor of the copule on Aug. 21 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Batchelor of Rocky Mount, hosted by Alvarhada Bass, Curtis and Mozelle Batchelor, Ronald and Martha Bass, Standley and Paula Bass, and Jerry and Nan Bissette.
On Aug. 14 a shower was held in honor of the bride, hosted by Janice Cone and Billie Cooper.
A shower in honor of the couple was given on Aug. 8 by Fannie Wilder, Judy Murray and Margierene Upchruch.
A shower in honor of the couple was given on July 31 at the home of the groom?s grandmother, Mrs. Goodman Bass, by the cousins of the groom.
The bride was honored at a shower on June 5 at the home of her grandmothers, Rosella Sanborn, of Westminster, Calif. hosted by Billie Cooper and Patti Breese.
