Joyce Bass
STERLING ? Joyce Bass, 75, of Sterling, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at her home. She owned and operated Bass Ceramics for many years.
Joyce was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Sterling, the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Manon) Van Horn. She married Murrell Bass on May 8, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Murrell Bass, one daughter, Cheryl Briggs, and one son, Kevin (Courtney) Bass, all of Sterling; three sisters, Ginger Bass, Diane Anderson and Sally Reul; four brothers, Sonny Van Horn, James Van Horn, Steve Van Horn and Jack Van Horn; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her parents; one sister, Sandy; and one brother, Roger.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. There also will be a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., followed the funeral at 11 a.m., Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Borton officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
A memorial has been established to the family.
