      Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bass

      Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bass of Rocky celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, September 29, with an open house at their home. Guests called from 2 o?clock until 5 o?clock in the afternoon.
      Children of the couple, and their families, were hosts. They are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil bass of Friona, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bass of Fremont, California; Mr. and Mrs. Estis Bass of Friona, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Ertis Bass of Rocky; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berger of San Diego, California; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Walker of Houston, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones of Medford. All seven of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Bass were present at the celebration.
      The reception table was covered with a yellow hand-crocheted cloth, made by Mrs. Bass. An arrangement of yellow mums and white tapers centered the table. Crystal appointments were used.
      The three-tiered anniversary cake was decorated in white with yellow roses and was topped with the numeral ?50? in gold. Miss Betty Ann of Friona, Texas, granddaughter of the couple, served the punch while Mrs. Estie Bass, also of Friona, Daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Bass, cut the cake.
      The guest registration table was decorated with a white lace doily and held the guest book and a bud vase with a large yellow mum. Miss Kathy Jones of Medford, granddaughter of the couple, presided.
      The gift tale was covered with a white linen cloth and held a place setting of china, crystal, and silver was presented the couple by their children.
      Mrs. Bass wore a corsage of a yellow cymbidium orchids, also presented to her by her children.
      There were approximately 120 persons attending the celebration. Among these were M.H. Bailey and Mrs. Bailey of Fayette, Missouri, brother of Mrs. Bass; Gene Bailey and Mrs. Bailey of Columbia, Missouri, nephew of Mrs. Bass, and family of Blanchard, brother of Mr. Bass; Mrs. Ralph Cole and Mr. Cole of Amarillo, Texas, sister of Mr. Bass; and Mrs. Jake Gorgas, Mr. Gorgas, and daughter, May, of Stillwater, sister of Mr. Bass.
      Mr. and Mrs. Bass were married on October 1, 1913, at Rocky, C.S. Wall, pastor of the Church of Christ, performed the ceremony.
      The couple have lived in the Rocky community most of their lives. Bass was engaged in farming until his retirement.
      The couple are the parents of seven children and have twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
