Billy Bass
VAN ? Services for Billy Bass will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Hilliard Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow in Concord Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at the funeral home. Mr. Bass passed away at the age of 78 on August 28, 2012, in Canton.
Billy Joe Bass was born April 16, 1934, in Chandler, Texas. He had been a resident of Canton for four years, formerly living in Marshall. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953-56. He worked for the State of Texas Animal Damage Control for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel B. Bass and Lela Ethel McLaney Bass; six brothers, Virgil, Carl, Wilmer, Herman, W.D. and Samuel; and one sister, Pauline Bass Stallings.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ada Lee Casey Bass of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Rhonda Bass of Arlington and Cullun and Melanie Bass of Canton; daughter, Delayne Bass of Red Oak; daughter and son-in-law, Lela and Danny Bayliss of Rowlett; two granddaughters, Jerilyn Jackson and Jeanna Jackson, both of Red Oak; seven grandsons, Wesley Bass of Alaska, Michael Bass of Tyler, Jeremy and Jered Bayliss of Rowlett, Casey Bass of Canton, Brian Mintz of California and Dylan Horn of Tyler; two great-grandsons, Rogelio Chavez Jr. and Nicholas Ocanas; three great-granddaughters, Marissa Chavez, Jasmyn Ocanas and Jaycie Jackson, all of Red Oak; one sister, Mary Bass Acosta of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
