Gerald Bass

Gerald Bass, 82, of Oneonta, AL., passed away on November 18, 2017. Mr. Bass retired from the United States Army where he was a Paratrooper and Green Beret and served in Vietnam and Korea. After his military service he became a Plumber and later worked as a Chef in several restaurants before opening his own business. He enjoyed going to flea markets and camping with his wife. He also enjoyed Alabama football and spending time with his family and going out to eat everyday with his friends.
He is preceded in death by parents, Zabe and Flora Bass; wife, Myra Lee Bass; son, Reginald Bass; and brothers, Jimmy, Terry and Roger Bass.
Survivors include sons, Jeff Bass of Trussville and Kerry Bass of Oneonta; daughter, Deanna Battles of Oneonta; grandchildren, Adam Battles (Cherie), Hanna Turner (Virgil), Jeremy Bass (Amy), Jason Bass (Laney), Joseph Bass and Jennifer Bass; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sister, Sue Bass.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11AM from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 2PM from Macedonia Cemetery.
