Jones-Bass Couple Pledge Their Novs At Baptist Church
Miss Carrie Louise Jones, daughter of Mrs. Jesse Turner Jones, 2708 Randleman Road, and the late Mr. Jones, and Marlen Lee Bass, son of Mrs. Malen Lee Bass, 1502 Glenwood Avenue, and the late Mr. Bass, were married last night at 8 o?clock at Rocky Knoll Baptist Church.
The wedding cake was cut afterward at the reception given by the bridegroom?s mother at home.
Rev. W.D. Long, pastor, officiated in a setting of plams and candles. Musicians were Clarence Byrd, baritone, and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Plyler.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, R.H. Jones, had her sister, Miss Dorothy Jones, for maid of honor. C.E. Bass was best man for his brother. George Hobson of Staley, J.O. Jones, the bride?s brother, D.E. Murray, the bridegroom?s cousins, and Clyde Solomon ushered.
Seed pearls and lace trimmed the bride?s white satin gown. Her veil was attached to a band of seed pearls and orange blossoms. The maid of honor was in nile green net over taffeta and carried red roses.
After a week in Eastern North Carolina the couple will live at 1502 Glenwood Avenue.

Carrie J. Bass, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday,
October 6, 2017. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at
2:00 at Rocky Knoll Baptist, Greensboro, N.C. Visitation will be on Tuesday,
October 10, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 at Hanes Lineberry on Vanstory Street.
Carrie was born September 13, 1924 in Rockingham County to Jesse Turner
Jones and Mary Barker Jones. In addition to her parents she was preceded in
death by her husband of 57 years, Marlen Bass; beloved son, Tony;
brothers, Harvey, Ben, and Johnie Jones; and sisters, Ruby Shular, Mildred
Phelps, Vester Seagraves, Hester Morris, and Dorothy Reynolds. Left to
cherish her memory include her daughter, Karen Gordon (Richard); grandsons, Jonathan
Gordon (Melinda) and David Gordon; great-grandson, Judah Gordon; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She
spent her entire life caring for and in the service of others. She will be
remembered for the many thousands of cards she sent to family, friends, and
shut-ins to show her love and encouragement. She was also an avid reader
and loved to share her love of books. She especially loved Rocky Knoll
Baptist Church where she was a member for 81 years.
The family wishes to thank Weshchester Manor and Hospice of the Piedmont for
the love and care she received in her final days
