January 24, 1925 - June 2, 2012
Fred Lee Bass, age 87, of Dequincy, La., died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La. He was a faithful member of First United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy, La. He was faithful to the House of God and loved to read his Bible. He loved nature. He also enjoyed feeding the birds and taking care of his flowers and many years ago, he worked a watermelon stand in Jennings, La. He also loved to cook. He never met a stranger. He served as a crossing guard at the DeQuincy Elementary School.
He was the son of the late Aaron Bass and the late Myrtle (Stanley) Bass.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca Bass;
Two Daughters,
Dorothy Jean Marcantel and husband Eugene of Mittie, La.
Glenda Shuff and husband Rufus of Toledo Bend, La.
One Son,
Edward Lee Bass and wife, Tonya of Mittie, La.
One step-son, Randy Burgess of Longville, La.
Two Sisters,
Claudia Braneff of Starks, La.
and Lois Lestage of Orange, Texas
One Brother,
Johnny Bass of Starks, La.
Five grandchildren
Ten great-grandchildren
Two great-great grandchildren
Two step-grandchildren and
1 step-great grandchild
He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron Bass and Myrtle Stanley Bass and one step-son, James Douglas Burgess.
Arrangements are being handled by Christensen Funeral Home, Inc., 1810 West 4th Street, Dequincy, La., The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, June 4, 2012. at The First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, La. and Funeral service will be at The First United Pentecostal Church at 2:00 PM Monday, June 4, 2012. Elder T. D. Cardwell, Pastor Wayne Cardwell and Bro. Jeff Reeves will be officiating. Interment will be at Masonic Cemetery in Dequincy, La.
