Joyce B. Lawrence
EDENTON -Joyce Juanita Bass Lawrence, 86, of West Queen Street, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mrs. Lawrence was born in Chowan County on April 13, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Johnnie Edward and Minnie Edna Bunch Bass. A homemaker, in earlier years she had worked as a clerk at Mitchener's Drug Store, and later as the bookkeeper for Edenton Auto Parts. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mayo Lawrence; her baby brother, James Richard Bass; and by a brother-in-law, Jack Fall.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Lawrence, and Karen Lawrence Tynch and husband, Timmie, all of Edenton; her son, Jim Lawrence of Greenville; and two sisters, Dorothy Louise Fall of Springfield, VA, and Vivian "Tink" Monis and husband, Tony, of Fowler, CA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and was conducted by The Rev. Bob Young. A private burial followed in the Waff Family Cemetery. Friends joined the family Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at Karen and Timmie's home, 1608 West Queen Street, Edenton.
