Normal L. Bass, Edenton Resident
Norman Lee "Shorty" Bass, 72, of 249 Evans-Bass Road, Edenton, died Sunday, Jan. 24, in Chowan Hospital.
Bass was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Lloyd William and Willie Mae Corbitt Bass. A carpenter, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church where he headed the church security and care, was the former teacher of the Carey Evans Sunday School Class and a former member of the Rocky Hock Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, L. Wayne Bass.
Surviving are his wife, Dellie Copeland Bass; his daughter, Patti Wolf Bass of Kill Devil Hills; his son, Gregory Wayne Bass of Edenton; two sisters, Shirley Ann Konopsky of Port Orange, Fla., and Cathy B. Forehand of Edenton; a brother, Eugene Bass of Edenton; and his grandson, Caleb Giovanni Wolf Bass.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery near the home with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
