Preceding him in death were his sister Leona Bassett and brother Virgil Bassett. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Bassett, of Somers; four children, Mark Bassett and wife, Deborah, of Houston; Susan Bishop and husband, Jim, of Spokane; and Sarah Bassett and Stephen Bassett, both of Somers; four grandchildren, Morgan Bishop, Madelynn Bishop, Richard Bassett and Maegan Bassett; and two sisters, Verna May Holly of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marguerite Burkleo of Nampa, Idaho. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Johnson Mortuary.
