Perry Lynn Bass (Picture included)

A graveside service for Perry Bass, 67, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Martinsville Cemetery.
Mr. Bass passed away on July 29, 2020 in Humble. He was born on July 11, 1953 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Perry grew up in Nacogdoches County, the son of Leland Carroll (L.C.) and Mary Belle Perry Bass Rhodes and grandson of Ingraham Graham (I.G.) & Maxine Fuller Bass and James Clarence Perry & Annie Elma Muckleroy Perry. He attended Nacogdoches schools and graduated with the NHS Class of 1971. Perry was baptized at the age of 10 by Pastor Edwin Crawford at The First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and devotedly, along with his parents and sister, was in attendance every time the doors were open. He was also a Boy Scout, RA. His love of music began when he played Tenor-saxophone in the band and later while he was a bartender in Dallas and regularly played sets with the bands. Perry went to work at the young age of 15 as an auto mechanic, which developed his astounding work ethic. After high school, Perry enrolled at Stephen F. Austin State University and obtained his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in Science degree. Perry had such a passion for learning and made his education a priority. He constantly furthered his knowledge by taking classes. Over the years, he was blessed to have accomplished the things he set out to do. He was a graduate of Sparton School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma; was a flight school graduate in both private and commercial airlines; reached his goal of having a pilot license from American Airlines; received his Aerospace Engineer degree from DalFort Aviation; attained his teaching degree in A-P mechanics; became an authorized inspector for Piper, Cessna & Beechcraft; was employed with DalFort Aerospace as a repairman of the aircrafts, supervisor over aircraft maintenance of the large aircrafts, including Boeing 727, 737, DC 8 & 9, MD80 and was loved by customers all over the world; was a property manager, handled environmental issues and disclosures, due diligence, overview of agency law and overview of property inspections in Oklahoma.
Perry?s loved many things during his adventurous life but most especially, he loved British cars and motorcycles and had a very deep passion for diving and all water activities. He was a very skilled and advanced diver in open water, received his advanced open water rescue diver with specialties in equipment and night diving and licensed with PADI; he was licensed through USCG Aux (MVCC-ACE) boating safety and seamanship and was an American Red Cross CPR Specialist. He also delved in stained glass (leaded).
Perry?s life was full of richness and adventure until he became ill. He survived Covid-19 TWICE! He was described by his mother as being ?tender inside, yet gruffy on the outside?.
?For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life? John 3:16
He was strong-willed but loved completely. His family was of utmost importance to him and he strived to ensure they were all safe and had everything they needed in life. He was very proud of his family names? ?The Fuller?s and the Bass? ?.
Perry had a softer side, which led him to enjoying Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King and Jesus Christ Superstar. He was a proud Texan and loved the state of Texas! His favorite rose was ?The Yellow Rose of Texas? and he was very skilled at growing them beautifully! His phrase to his sister, ?Bite Me? eluded to his description that his mother had of him, but he meant it in the most compassionate way! He enjoyed cooking with his mom and took pride in mastering several of her recipies.
Perry is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Bass Clifton; nephew, Derek Wayne Clifton and niece, Olivia Jeanann Clifton; special cousins, Richard Perry, Linda Perry Pelham, Kay & John Hendrix, Trey Adams, Linda & Wayne Svehla, Becky & Kenny Barrett, Mike Rawson, Bob & Annette Rawson, Joe & Ramona Rawson, Gary Goehrs, Leanne & Randy Kleine, and Jim & Karen Smith. He is also survived by his special lifelong friends, Jack Hand, Jr. & Paula Hull Hand, John Henson, Elizabeth Harvey, Karen & Warren Schmidt, Holly Schmidt and Scott McBee.
Perry also had a group of ladies that were very close to Carol Ann, and they will certainly miss the hard times they gave him. He loved his sister, which led him to being like a brother to them through the years. The ?First Ladies? include Peggy Compton, Jan Muckleroy Dawley, Melody Hill Remone, Judy Griswold Justus, Margaret Thompson Lane, Jan Hand Creel, Vicki Burns Socia, Tammy Burns Trammell, Tator Bug-Carolyn Cox Martin, Martiza Palafox Roberts, Linda Martin Beckham, Torre Murphy Scifo, Kim Koze, Ginny Holmes and Diana Salazar-Tomlinson.
Perry is preceded in death by his parents, Leland Carroll (L.C.) Bass and Mary Belle Perry Bass Rhodes and his grandparents, Ingraham Graham (I.G.) and Maxine Fuller Bass; and James Clarence Perry and Annie Elma Muckleroy Perry. He is also preceded in death by Jimmy Hull and Ginger Brown, Jerry Harvey and Larry (Bo) Schmidt.
