James Orville Bass (Picture included)
On Thursday, August 8, 2019, James Orville Bass, loving husband, father, son and brother passed away suddenly at the age of 75 years. The son of Warren and Maxine (Kennemer) Bass, Jim was born on October 15, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Jim graduated from Moore High School in 1960. He served in the US Army from August 1966 -February 1970. He served in the Vietnam War as a Sergeant and received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Jim worked at Wilson Foods as a butcher/meat processor from 1970-1995. He worked at Wilson?s for 25 years until the company went out of business. Jim loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, walking and especially loved working in his yard and flower beds. He enjoyed watching the news and keeping up with current events, but being the nature man, he also enjoyed watching National Geographic. He loved to watch football and basketball and was a OKC Thunder fan and avid OU Football fan. Although Jim did not attend church regularly, he had been raised in the Baptist church and had been saved when he was younger. He loved Motown music and enjoyed listening to Sam Cooke, Smoky Robinson and Marvin Gaye. Jim was a very loving, affectionate, easy going, hardworking and thoughtful man. He was selfless and didn?t want for anything. He lived a simple life and wanted the best for everybody. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and was with them frequently. Jim will be forever remembered by his wife of 50 years, Chien (Mai) Bass; their children, James and wife Gina, Mary and husband Tyshaun, Tony and wife Donella; his eight grandchildren; and sisters, Sheila Horspool of California and Deelea Roberts of Moore, OK. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Maxine Bass and brother, Dean Bass. Visitation will be on Saturday from 6:00-9:00 PM and Sunday, 1:30 ? 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home at 120 S. Broadway, Moore, OK. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 12, 2019 at Lynlee Mae Chapel, 507 W. Main Street, Moore, OK. Inurnment will be on August 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
