Joe Robert Bass
Joe Robert Bass was born in Newnan, Georgia, to the late Walter William and Lera Ozell Morgan Bass. He attended Newnan High School where an introductory course in simple drafting would launch him into a career that would cover 20 years at The Bonnell Company; later a ten-year stint at Baughman Detailing and ten more years in his own company, Bass Detailing. His natural propensity for great attention to every facet of his work made him a valued employee and, in the last ten years of his career he would own his own firm.Joe's marriage to Brenda Thurman was one of two great highlights in his life. The other would be the birth of their son, Derek. The family tree grew with the addition of Derek's wife Debbie and their children, Brandi Hartley, Josh Perez and McKenzie Bass. The family was complete with the great-grandchildren James and Audi.Life changed dramatically for Joe following the unexpected death of his dear Brenda. As his health issues came to the forefront in Joe's life, he was able to accept the fact that his hold on life was tenuous, at best, and he began to formulate a plan for an orderly exit from his life on earth, even arranging for hospice care for himself.Joe's life will be remembered, and memories shared at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan on Tuesday, May 7th in a service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Historic Oak Hill Cemetery. Those who wish to honor Joe's life, may do so by a gift in his memory to Unity Baptist Church, 311 Smokey Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com.
