From the Bendigo Advertiser - "The Friends of the late Mr. John Bassett, of Sailor's Gully, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the Eaglehawk Cemetery, This Day; funeral to move from his late residence at four o'clock." Wording for plaque to be laid on Martha and John's grave: "This plaque has been laid to commemorate The arrival from Cornwall 140 years ago On the SS Great Britain 24 Dec. 1861 of Martha (Carbis) died 20 March 1882 and John Bassett died 24 Nov 1868 At a Family Gathering in Eaglehawk They laid the foundation for our future"
