Shelby Duncan Bass
BURLINGTON ?- Mrs. Shelby Duncan Bass, 76, of 2019 North Ashland Drive, Burlington, passed away at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Friday, April 12, 2013.
A native of Person County, she was the wife of the late Robert Elliot Bass and the daughter of Alonzo Floyd Duncan and Grace Oakley Duncan, both deceased. She was employed with Kayser-Roth for over 30 years and also retired from Belk's Department Store after 25 years of service. Shelby was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Michael Bradley Bass and wife Judy of Garner, Jan Bass McMinn and husband Paul of Greensboro and Robbin Dale Bass and wife Karen of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Brennen Fentress, Brooke Fentress, Jessica Bass, Jennifer Bass, Kim Citty, David Burnette, Melissa McMinn and Ken McMinn; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gracene Duncan Clayton and Anne Duncan Shaw, both of Roxboro; brother, Farris Duncan and wife Joyce of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Colon Duncan.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Joyner with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
