Person Native Dies In Wreck
BURLINGTON, Dec. 21 ? Robert Elliott Bass, 32, a native of Person County and resident of Burlington, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Alamance County Hospital of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Hanover Road in Graham.
Police said his speeding car ran off the left side of the road into a ditch, then veered back across the road and slid broadside down a 4-foot embankment.
Bass was a veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a repairman in the electronic manufacturing division of Western Electric in Burlington.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shelby Duncan Bass of Route 1, Timberlake; one daughter, Jan Bass, and two sons, Brad and Robin Bass, all of Route 1, Timberlake; his mother, Mrs. Clyde Satterfield of Route 1, Timberlake; and his father, Robert L. Bass of Lumberton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Harmony Baptist Church near Roxboro by the Rev. Dick Coleman. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Park in Roxboro.
