Rev. Fred Junior Bass
The Rev. Fred Junior Bass, 90, formerly of Kenly, North Carolina, and most recently a resident at Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Orbisonia, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 25, 2015, at the retirement center.
Born Sept. 24, 1925, in Wilson, North Carolina, he was a son of the late William and Rosa (Barden) Bass. He was united in marriage to the former Helen Farmer Sept. 23, 1944. His wife of 71 years survives at their Woodland residence.
Rev. Bass is survived by his children, Jeanne Varner and husband, Ron, of Newton Hamilton, Patsy Batten and husband, David, of Starke, Florida, and the Rev. Louis Bass and wife, Vickie, of Benson, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dawana Walston and husband, Jeff, of Elm City, North Carolina, Jason Bass and wife, Amy, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Tonya Holsomback and husband, Jimmy, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ashlee Varner of Greeley, Colorado, Amber Anderson and husband, Javan, of Baxley, Georgia, Jeffrey Bass and wife, Jennifer, of Wendell, North Carolina, Mickey Bass of Benson, North Carolina, Katrina Villiger and companion, David Walton, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Gene Batten and wife, Christine, of Walkersville, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Brooks Walston and wife, Valerie, Blake Walston and wife, Jennifer, Jayce, Dalen and Mason Bass, Ian, Tori and Sophia Batten, Courtney Bass, Rhett and Dean Holsomback, Blake, Maddox and Walker Anderson and Rebecca Villiger; great-greatgrandchildren,
Colin and Gracin Walston, Addisyn Bass and Aiden Strong; and stepgrandchildren, Diana and David Marrero.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Bass; a grandson, James Bass; a great-grandson, Alex Bass; a sister, Margaret Ezzell; and three brothers, Alvin, Melvin and
Robert Bass.
Rev. Bass served two and one-half years in the United States Navy.
He was a minister with the Church of God, with 50 years of service and had been a well-known evangelist with his brother, Alvin.
Rev. Bass loved playing music, especially entertaining with his harmonica, and was an accomplished pianist and guitarist. He will be remembered as being a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, with Kenly Funeral Service, Kenly, North Carolina, with the Rev. Paul Keeter Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Town of Kenly Cemetery.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.

ORBISONIA, Pa. ? The Rev. Fred Junior Bass, 90, formerly of Kenly, and most recently a resident at Woodland Retirement Community, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Kenly Funeral Service with visitation from 10 -11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
