Edgar Franklin Sr., 83
BASS, Edgar Franklin Sr., 83, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001. He was born in Lumberton, N.C., attended Wake Forest University and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke. Mr. Bass was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge #190, member of the Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie P. Bass; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elva Bass Thomas and her husband, Allen K. Thomas, Jr. of Greenville, S.C., Ruth Bass Genter and her husband, Richard L. Genter of Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Edgar F. Bass, Jr. and his wife, Karen Poindexter Bass of Colonial Heights; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park, with Masonic Rites by Lakeland Lodge #190 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
