Jonnie L. Bass
DANVILLE, Va. - Jonnie L. Bass, age 95, of 1111 Main St., Danville, Va., formerly of Chatham, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Stratford Health Care Center in Danville.
She was born on May 3, 1911, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Leon H. Law and Kate Easley Law.
She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Bass.
She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church and was the nurse for Hargrave Military Academy for many years.
She is survived by one son, Charles David Bass of Flat Rock, N.C.; two daughters, Sarah B. Brennan of Atlanta, Ga. and Phyllis B. Lee of College Station, Texas; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased one brother, Taz Law and one sister, Lucy Bishop.
Funeral services will be conducted at Chatham Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, with the Rev. Mikel D. Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 26.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Chatham Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 668 Chatham, VA 24531.
Scott Funeral Home, Chatham, is in charge of the arrangements.
