WOONSOCKET – Armand J. Bessette, 85, of Park Place, Woonsocket, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at the St. Antoine residence in North Smithfield. Born in Manville, RI, a son of the late Joseph & Malvina (Leduc) Bessette, he was the husband of the late Claire (Cournoyer) Bessette.
Mr. Bessette was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Private First Class as a Field Lineman in the Field Artillery Battalion. A resident of North Smithfield and Woonsocket for most of his life, he was the co-owner of the Hi View Motel in North Smithfield for more than twenty-three years, retiring in 1980. He was a parishioner of Precious Blood Church in Woonsocket. He was a volunteer at the St. Antoine residence and enjoyed playing golf. He also took many trips with the Royal Travelers.
Mr. Bessette is survived by two daughters, Lucille Brien of South Kingstown, RI, and Louise Fiehweg of Gastonia, NC; three grandchildren, Courtney Brien, Lindsey Brien, and Christopher Fiehweg; and a niece, Collette Pennington. He was the brother of the late Therese Stevenin.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 8:30AM from the MENARD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in Precious Blood Church, 94 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
