Julius V. Sam Bass
Julius V. (Sam) Bass, born August 20th 1937, in Vernon Parish Louisiana, passed away March 16th, 2011 in Livingston, Texas at the age of 73. Mr. Bass is survived by his loving wife Lin of 14 years; son, Reggie Bass & wife Kay; daughter, Sheila Howard and husband John; step-daughters; Denis' Thomas & husband Tim and Nicole Burgess & husband Mark, brothers; Homer Bass & wife Jeri, Larry Bass & wife Monteen and Donald Bass; sisters, Sue Mitchell & husband Junior, Lutherine Ashworth & husband M.C., Nita Norlander & husband Lanny, Linda Gates & husband Chet, grandchildren; Kristen Moran, Kala Rollins, Travis Howard and Nicole Howard; two step-grandchildren; Andrew Thomas & Zealand Thomas and three great-grandchildren. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Luster & Vergie James Bass; sister, Margie Ashworth and brother, Ronald Bass. Mr. Bass was a veteran having retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He then went on teach building trades in Alvin for over 20 years. He enjoyed building for Habitat for Humanity with his students. Sam then started his own business named S & S Construction. Sam continued a long hard battle with cancer but always stayed busy helping his friends and neighbors. His dream of retiring included sitting in his rocking chair, eating a moon pie and sipping on an RC Cola while fishing which never happened. In lieu of flowers please make donations to SPCA at Pace Funeral Home. This is where Sam found his special friend Roscoe, the 22lb Chihuahua.
A Celebration of Sam's life will begin at 3pm Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Pace Funeral Home 200 Fm 350 north Livingston, Tx with Pastor Orval Barger officiating. The VFW Post 8568 will honor Sam's Life with Full Military Honors. Please send condolences to www.pacefuneral.com
