DEATH: Obituary: "Ahsahka - Ellis Bassett, 61, an employee of the B.J. Carney & Co. Poles, was dead in his pickup at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday [24 Nov 1970] at the pole yard. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been an employee the last two years. Prior to that he had worked for Clearwater County from 1966-1968. He also worked as a stockman in the Blackfoot area for a number of years before moving to Colorado, where he worked in the mines. He moved to California working there as a commercial fisherman before he moved to work for about 14 years from 1952. Then he moved to Ahsahka in 1966. Bassett was born September 29, 1909, at Soda Springs, Idaho. He lived with his parents in the Nampa area although he received most of his schooling at Blackfoot, Idaho. He married the former Linnea Herlevia at Delta, Colorado, June 21, 1937. He is survived by his widow at the family residence at Ahsahka; two sons, Thomas in the navy and John at home; eight daughters, Mrs. Cecilia Robinsen in Washington; Mrs. Barbara Hoak Chula Vista, California; Mrs. Joanne Harris, Pitkin, Louisiana; Karen, San Diego, California; Debra, Grain Ridge, Maryland; and Gail, Rita, and Alice of Ahsahka; two grandchildren; a bother, Frank of Blackfoot; and three sisters; Mable Madsen, Shelley; Louise Gough, Blackfoot; and Sadie Curtis, Salina, Utah."
