Graduates From Platoon Leaders Class
Quantico, Va. (FHTNC) ? Graduated July 25 from the Junior Platoon Leaders Class at the Marine Corps Schools in Quantico, Va., was Archie Bass, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bass, Sr.; of Pinola.
He is attending Co-Lin Junior College.
The six week course was designed to prepare him for a 2nd Lt. Commission in the Marine Corps, following graduation from college.
After receiving his commission he will begin a 26 week course at the officers basic school, also in Quantico.

Archie Bass Jr.
Archie Bass, Jr., age 35 of Pinola, died Friday, June 3, at Simpson General Hospital. He was employed by South Central Bell Telephone. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a Youth Sunday School teacher. He attended New Hebron High School and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College.
Services were held Saturday, June 4, at 3:00 p.m. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jackey Douglas and Rev. E. N. Sullivan officiating.
Survivors include his widow, Gail Bass; 2 sons, David and Steven Bass, all of Pinola; 1 sister, Vickie Bass, Pinola; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bass, Sr., of Pinola; and a host of friends and relatives.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Colonial Chapel of Mendenhall in charge of arrangements.
