Barbara Little Bass, Petal, Mississippi
October 11, 1932 ? March 22, 2023
A visitation and memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara Jean Polk Little Bass, affectionately known as ?Babs?, will be held Friday March 24, 2023. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, in Petal, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Pinola Cemetery in Pinola, MS at 3:30p.m.
Barbara, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed on March 22, 2023 after 90 years of celebrating life. She was born in Carson, MS, on October 11, 1932. Barbara grew up in the Prentiss community where she graduated from Prentiss High School in 1951.
Barbara worked for Forrest County Sheriff's Department Evaluation Center for 22 years and retired as a supervisor. Outside of work, she shared her gifts through volunteer service in her community. She was past President, Petal Euphuia Club and past Worthy-Matron, Order of Eastern Star Petal Chapter #325. She was also very active in her church, Petal-Harvey Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1965. She spent many years with her Sunday School Class, Winsome SS Class, and her senior church traveling group, 55 Alive.
Barbara loved to cook and was an avid baker. She will be remembered through her recipes and numerous holiday meals and memories with her family and friends on Maywood Drive. She loved her 5 boys unconditionally. Barbara, also known as Mammaw, loved and was proud of her 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Maggie Polk; husbands, Archie Ray Little and John Edward Bass; son, Gary Little; brothers, Curtis "Buddy" Polk, Jr. and Wayne Polk; sisters Dorothy ?Dot? Young and Diane Polk Hatten; daughter in law, Debbie Little; and granddaughter, Lake Little.
She is survived by her children, Gerald Ray Little (Charlotte), Craig Alan Little (Michelle), John Jeffrey Bass, all of Hattiesburg and David Archie Little (Pattie) of Starkville; sisters, Paulette Langley of Prentiss, Brenda Watson of New Hebron; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
