Helen Gilley
Mrs. Helen "Dukes" Gilley of Dothan passed away early Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007, at Extendicare Hospice Services Facility with her loving family at her side. She was 82.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Chapel of Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Dothan with the Revs. Coley Holloway and John Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. in the chapel prior to services. All services will conclude at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gilley was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Houston County and had been a resident of the Mount Gilead Community since her early childhood. She was a retired, self-employed, patient caregiver. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. Bass and Mary Clark Bass; husband, John W. Gilley; daughter, Donna Dukes Ray; grandson, Brian Dukes.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Hall, and husband (Terry), Rehobeth; son, Gerald Wayne Dukes, and wife (Juline), Marianna, Fla.; sister, Maudie Butler, Dothan; brother, Dudley Bass, and wife (Doris), Dothan; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
