Lt. Robert F. Bessette
BESSETTE, LT. ROBERT F. (P.P.D. Ret.), 80, passed away Sunday December 23, 2012 in West Palm Beach, FL. He was the beloved husband of Claire G. (Russo) Bessette. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late George O. and Lena (Rosner) Bessette, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War <http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/korean-war/?personid=162013278&affiliateID=519>. Mr. Bessette retired with the rank of Lieutenant from the Providence Police Dept. after 23 years of service. He was the director of the Prov. Police Academy from 1977-1978, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3, Prov. Police Association, and Commissioned Police Officers Association of RI. Besides his wife, he is also survived by his loving children Denise Yidiaris (Peter), Lori Patatanes, Dr. Robert, Steven M. (Irene), Gerald R. (Kimberly) and Matthew M. Bessette and 8 grandchildren. He was the brother of Irene Santangelo, Claire Rinaldi, Elinor Brown, Helen Lamoureux and the late Anita O'Donnell, Maurice, Lawrence, George, Samuel and Raymond Bessette. His funeral will be held Monday December 31, 2012 at 8:15am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Rd., Cranston. Visitation Sunday 4-8pm. Graveside burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
