- BESSETTE, RAYMOND E., 73, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Providence, passed away July 19, 2009. He was the husband of Shirley (Macedo) Bessette and son of the late George and Lina (Rosner) Bessette. Mr. Bessette was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Howe) Bessette.
Raymond was employed by Hemmingway Transport for 21 years before his retirement. He was the recipient of the President's cup as the winner of the Tri-State Truck Rodeo. Raymond was a member of Teamsters Local # 251 for over 28 years. He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Patricia Chivers, Raymond Jr., George, Christopher, Charles, Joseph, and John Bessette, four sisters, Irene Santangelo, Claire Rinaldi, Elinor Brown, Helen Lamoureux; three brothers, Maurice, Robert, and Lawrence Bessette; 13 grand and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Anita O'Donnell, George, Samuel, and Gerald Bessette. Calling hours Friday 4 - 8 PM in the A.A. MARIANI and SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence. Funeral Saturday at 9 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Burial with Military honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
