Waverly G. Bass
SUFFOLK ? Waverly Gerald Bass, 47, of 1068 Cypress Chapel Road died Saturday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Portsmouth and the husband of Lelia Hardison Bass.
He attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Portsmouth and was a member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898 and National Rifle Association. He was a retired carman for Seaboard Coastline Railroad.
Other survivors include his mother, Frances Hurst Bass of Suffolk; six daughters, Carlie A. Skittlethorp of Virginia Beach, Calsie D Lasiter of Portsmouth, Darlene F. Barnes and Wanda E. Cates, both of Winterville, N.C., Toni L. Browning of Denbigh and Lelia A. Harrell of Suffolk; three brothers, Ernest A. Bass Jr. of South Mills, Kenneth P. Bass and Jerry F. Bass Sr., both of Suffolk; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Nelson F. Fields. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, with Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home in charge. The family will be at his home.
