Angela Marie Bessette
Angela Marie Bessette, age 82, Secret Lake Drive, Port Orange, passed away December 10, 2008 at Halifax Health-Medical Center of Port Orange. Angela was born Angela Marie Guerra on November 10, 1926 in Cranston, Rhode Island to Pasquale and Maria (DiLibro) Guerra. She met George Bessette in Rhode Island and they married in 1946. As George advanced in his career, Angela moved with him to Connecticut, Virginia and Illinois. After the death of her beloved husband in 1975, Angela moved to Florida. She began her career as a merchandising assistant at JC Penney at Volusia Mall and retired after 14 years in 1989. Angela was a founding member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spoiling her family. Angela is survived by her loving daughter, Jeanne Ballard, of Port Orange, with whom she shared a home in her last years. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Lesley Ballard of Tallahassee. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers, Fortunato and John Guerra, and sister, Josephine DiPrete. She will be missed by many relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lad of Hope Catholic Church at 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:30 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Volusia Memorial Park & Funeral Home of Port Orange. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Central Florida, 207 White Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Family and friends are welcome to visit with Jeanne at her home or call with condolences.
