BANGOR - Irene B. Tower, 90, wife of the late John H. Tower Sr., died Nov. 7, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor health care facility, after a long illness. She was born March 18, 1920, in North Providence, R.I., the daughter of Felix and Rose (Poirier) Bessette. Irene loved music and could play most instruments by ear. She enjoyed family gatherings, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Irene is survived by four daughters, Roselyn Irene Palmer of Summerville, S.C., Janice and her husband, Gerald Pehoviak, of Hebron, Conn., Ronda-Rae Babcock of Berwick and Bonnie Henderson of Newburgh; two sons, Barry Tower and his wife, Karla, of Patten and Timothy Tower Sr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Concho, Ariz.; her sister, Mariel Lane of Lincoln, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, John Tower Jr.; her sister, Jeanette Levesque; and her brother, Raymond Bessette. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be at Patten Cemetery, Patten.
