Mrs. Joanne Lewis Bass, age 83, of Griffin passed away Friday, November 16, 2018.
Mrs. Bass was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 18, 1935. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Oree Price Lewis. Mrs. Bass was retired from Central Office of Griffin Spalding County School System. She was a longtime member of the Midway United Methodist Church, where she was active on many committees. She devoted over 60 years as church pianist and organist, using her talents to serve God. She was a current member of Griffin First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bass was also a former member of the Griffin Business and Professional Women?s Club.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Roger F. Bass; daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Ron Dunnavant, Julie and David Lynch, Susan and David Thaxton; grandchildren and spouses, Jeff and Lindsey Dunnavant, Jason and Ellen Dunnavant, Allan Lynch, Katie Lynch, Hannah and Brian Carley, Betsy Thaxton, Jake Thaxton; great grandchildren, Hayden, Charlotte, Audrey, Reagan, Miriam.
Visitation for Mrs. Joanne Bass will be on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at the Welcome Center at Griffin First United Methodist Church. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted in the Sanctuary. Dr. Carter McInnis and Director of Discipleship/Care Debby Stikes will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
