Hattie Mae Jackson Bass
Hattie Mae Jackson Bass, of Wilmington, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
She was born in Currie, NC, on October 3, 1915, the daughter of the late William M. Jackson and Nannie Herring Jackson. She was the widow of William Everett Bass and was preceded in death by her son, William Louis Bass and her daughter, Nancy C. Bass.
Mrs. Bass was a member of Seagate Baptist Church and was the founder and former owner and operator of Oleander Fabrics that is now Drapery World.
Surviving are her son, Guilford Wilson Bass and wife Janet of Holden Beach, NC; three grandchildren, Timothy E. Bass of Wilmington, Will Bass of Raleigh and Shannon Driggers of Myrtle Beach; and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Hazel R. Morrill of Denver, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd., Wilmington, by Rev. Rod West and Dr. John Gray. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel, one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Seagate Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seagate Baptist Church, 6115 Oleander Dr., Wilmington, NC 28403 or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
