James R. Bass
James R. Bass of 727 Shay Drive died Sunday in Durham County General Hospital.
He was a native of Person County and attended Person County schools. He was a member of Rougemont Masonic Lodge 468. He was a member of New Saint James Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and deacon.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in New Saint James Baptist Church by the Reverend Garland Ragland. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. JoAnne B. Hedgespeth of Hillsborough and Mrs. Flossie Palmer of Roxboro; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Len Bass of Rougemont; a brother, Lawrence Bass of Rougemont; two foster brothers, James Spencer Bass of New York and J.T. Thomas of Durham; two foster sisters, Mrs. Linda Battle and Mrs. Bonnie Edwards, both of Durham; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Scarborough & Hargett Memorial Chapel and at other times at the home of Gennie Bass on Carver Road in Rougemont.
