Ellen Wallace
Ellen Wallace, 84, daughter of the late Floyd D. and Effie Bass, passed away after a lengthy illness Monday, Feb. 12, 2007.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at First United Methodist Church of Florence in McDowell Hall, with the Rev. Horace Bass, cousin of Mrs. Wallace, and the Rev. Melisa Saccucci officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Lee Wallace Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Wallace Sr.; son, Richard "Dickie" Wallace and wife, Mary Ann; daughter-in-law, Laurie Wallace; grandchildren, Lanie Reynolds and husband, Robert, Bass Wallace, Laurelie Wallace and Katherine Wallace; great-grandchildren, Cole Reynolds, Emily Reynolds, Kevan Reynolds and Davis Reynolds.
She was a graduate of Coffee High School. She was the third-oldest member of First United Methodist Church of Florence, where her parents were strong supporters in the development of the church. She was happily married to Don Wallace for 64 years. Many people will remember her as the school secretary at Appleby and Hibbett schools, who was always there to help. Her love for her friends was a very important part of her life. She never failed to thank people and regularly sent notes and cards to the many people who touched her life. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Dowd, Mike Fountain, Bobby Griffin, Jack Littrell, Sammie McClendon and Garry Watson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Van Sant, Chester Lawrence, Dick Jordan, Larry Mac Smith, Bob Cox, Neal Johnson and Oscar Davis.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many doctors and nurses, too numerous to name, who attended Mrs. Wallace during her many hospital stays.
Expressions of sympathy may also be made in loving memory of Ellen Wallace to First United Methodist Church of Florence Building Fund.
Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
