Muriel Bass Pendleton
NEWTON Muriel Bass Pendleton, 94, passed away peacefully at Trinity Ridge senior community Saturday June 25, 2016. Born Sept. 29, 1921, in Vale, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Alexander Bass and Arthur Blanche Bass. Muriel was preceded in death by her 14 brothers and sisters. She was married to J.C. Pendleton who also preceded her in death. Muriel loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening and exercise. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Pendleton Baker of Conover; grandson, Ryan Pendleton Baker and wife, Heather Hildebrand Baker of Hickory; great-grandson, Henry Lee Baker; and great-granddaughter, Rosemarie Presley Baker; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday June 29, at First United Methodist Church in Newton with family friend Pastor Bryan Correll officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery, Newton at a later date. The family will receive friends 1:15 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service at First United Methodist Church in Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Bass, Joseph Bass, James Bass, Dustin Bass, Roger Bass, and Bill Boyles. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the Alzheimer's Association at P.O.
