Ellis of Route 1, New London. He had been in declining health two years, seriously ill two days. He was a retired lumber dealer and a member of the Richfield Methodist Church. Born in Lincoln County, he spent much of his life in Alabama and moved to Stanly County several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Palm Tree Methodist Church in Vale with interment in the church cemetery. Survivors in addition to his daughter include a brother, George W. Bass of Vale.
