Jane W. Bass
Jane W. Bass, 93, of Calera, Alabama, formerly of the Poplar Springs Community, Graceville, passed away, Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Ms. Jane was born Nov. 10, 1922 in Slocomb, Alabama to the late John Early Woodham and Walcie Lee Ballard Woodham. A 1941 graduate of Poplar Springs High School, Ms. Jane opened Jaymar Fashions in Graceville in 1973 and retired in 1992. Ms. Jane was a people person meeting and making friends over the years. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist for more than 40 years, teaching in Sunday School and training union. She was church pianist for 12 years, a member of Women Missionary Union and worked a number of years in Vacation Bible School. She was a current member of Calera Baptist Church, Calera, Alabama.
Preceded in death by her husband Lamar Bass, grandson Christopher Bass, parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Survived by two sons Roger Lamar Bass, Birmingham, Alabama; Mark Woodham Bass, Jemison, Alabama; sister-in-law Patsy Woodham, Graceville; grandchildren Shannon Minniefield, Jennifer Campbell (David), Blake Bass, Shelly Ridlehoover, Alexa Bass; great grandchildren Jasmine Minniefield, Jamison Minniefield, Jalen Minniefield, Maddie Campbell, Lamar Campbell, Ellie Campbell, Koerper Campbell, Zackery Bass, Colton Bass, Drake Ridlehoover; a host of nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers request memorials be made to charity of your choice.
