PHENIX CITY, AL ? Joe L. Bass, 59, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at Columbus Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Emory Evans officiating, according to Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. EST at the funeral home. Mr. Bass was born May 2, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Addie Lee Land Hardy and the late Joe Levy Bass. He served in the United States Airforce during the Vietnam War, he was a retired master electrician from the Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Bass enjoyed scuba diving and wood working. He attended Faith Temple Assembly of God Church in Phenix City, AL. He is survived by his mother Addie Lee Land Hardy and stepfather Roy Hardy of Columbus, GA; his best friend and ex-wife, Betty Powell Bass of Phenix City, AL; a brother Robert Bass of Phenix City, AL; two nephews, Brandon Bass and Garrett Bass; one great niece, Kalyn Bass; extended loving family, church family and friends.
